Carlow County Council has granted a five-year retention permission for the former St. Brigid’s Nursing Home on Dublin Street in the town.
The decision allows the continued use of the protected structure as an emergency residential accommodation facility.
The building has fifty bedrooms spread across it.
According to the planning file, the facility will continue to provide housing for Internationally Protected Persons.
There are ten conditions attached to the green-light from Carlow County Council.
