Danesfort are settling into senior level well, according to former Kilkenny Under-20 manager Mark Dowling.
The Dicksboro clubman was in charge of the Kilkenny Under-20s from 2023 until 2025 and has been keeping a close eye on Adrian Burke’s Danesfort side.
They’ve suffered narrow defeats in both of their opening St Canice’s Credit Union Kilkenny Senior League games, but Dowling says there has been plenty to like about their performances.
Danesfort are back in action this Saturday when they face Dicksboro in Tom Ryall Park at 4.30pm, with both sides still searching for their first win of the campaign.
Here’s Mark Dowling on what has impressed him about Danesfort’s start to senior hurling.
“They have alot of young players. Fionna Mahony is doing really well, Sam Hayes, Ben Whitty got three goals the other night, and came out on the losing end.
They have those experienced last, predominantly towards the bottom half of the field. They have a nice mix. I actually think they have kicked on from intermediate last year from what I have seen.
Dicksboro have them next, and there is going to be nothing soft there for Dicksboro.
And there’s a double dose of live Kilkenny Senior League action on KCLR this Saturday.
At 3.30pm on KCLR, it’s Tullaroan against Ballyhale Shamrocks, thanks to Seanie’s Guest House Tullaroan and Gerry Comerford Drilling Limited.
At the same time on KCLR Plus, it’s Thomastown against Glenmore, thanks to John Phelan Skip Hire and Waste Disposal.
