Young males on nights out in Kilkenny were the main factor behind the increase in both minor assault and assault causing harm cases during the second quarter of this year.
These were among the headline figures referenced by Superintendent Sean O’Meara at last night’s meeting of the Kilkenny Local Community Safety Partnership which was held at County Hall.
Compared to the same timeframe in 2025, reported minor assault incidents in Kilkenny rose by almost 28 per cent, while assault causing harm cases increased by just under four per cent.
Speaking to KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes, Supt O’Meara shared a slogan that he and his colleagues will be transmitting to secondary school students over the coming months.
