St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny among 30 hospitals to see SIPTU members stage one-day strike

SIPTU members of staff at St Luke’s General Hospital for Carlow and Kilkenny are set to walk off site for a day’s action next month.

They’re among more than 11,000 workers across 30 hospitals, which also includes University Hospital Waterford, Wexford General and Tipperary University Hospital, set to stage the day-long strike on the 14th of October in a dispute over public service pay, following a work-to-rule later this month.

The union says talks on a new pay agreement have yet to begin, despite the previous deal expiring in June.

It says the industrial action can still be avoided if meaningful negotiations get underway.
