UPDATE (10:25am, Thursday 24th Sept): Kilkenny County Council say “The incident was brought under control quickly by fire crews from Callan and Kilkenny. Only minor injuries were reported. We expect the road to be reopened by 11.00 this morning”.

Emergency services are attending the scene of a crash in County Kilkenny.
It happened at about 9am this morning.

Two cars are understood to be involved in the incident close to the monument at Burnchurch.
Three fire engines were seen turning off the N76 Callan Kilkenny Road at Ballymack Cross heading towards the stretch at 9:15am while Gardaí ask motorists to avoid the stretch.
It’s not yet known if anybody’s been injured – stay tuned for more.
