Captain Darren off to Bulgaria with Team Ireland for European Elite Boxing Championships

The Irish Boxing squad leave for Bulgaria today for the European Elite Mens Championship.

The action starts in Samokov on Friday and Paulstown man Darren O’ Neill is hoping he can secure a place at the World Elites in Doha in October if he can finish in the top 6 in his weight division.

That would offer another opportunity to qualify for the Olympics in Rio next year.

O’ Neill who is the Ireland Team Captain told KCLR he is going into these championships with an injury but hopes it wont hamper him too much.
