50 extra parking spaces are available at St Lukes hospital today.
It follows a day of chaos in the local hospitals carpark yesterday.
In a statement to KCLR the HSE says 50 additional parking spaces have come
on stream today at St Lukes hospital.
It follows reports of clamping at the hospital carpark yesterday as people
abandoned their cars when they couldnt find a place to park.
The hospital says that the problems arose because of an exceptional volume
of traffic which saw the car park and various overflow areas full.
Extra spaces have now been provided on a temporary basis and patrols of
the the car park have also been increased to help people out.
Meanwhile the hospitals Emergency Department experienced its busiest night
of the year last night with numbers waiting to the seen much higher than
usual.
They’ve been under increased pressure in recent days with some planned
procedures having to be postponed or rescheduled as all available beds are
in use.
