A 36-year-old man is in serious condition following Kilkenny City assault

A 36-year-old local man is in serious condition in Beaumont Hospital after sustaining a head injury following an assault in Kilkenny on Sunday evening.

The incident happened at approximately 8.40 pm at the Weir View in the city.

A man in his 40s was arrested in the early hours of yesterday (Monday) morning and remains detained at a Garda station in the county.

Kilkenny Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Weir View yesterday evening between 8 pm and 9 pm and who may have camera footage to come forward.
