A case of ‘back to the drawing board’ for ring road extension in Kilkenny

There should be some progress on Kilkenny’s Northern Ring Road extension either by the end of this year or the start of next.

That’s according to a local councillor after members were given an update on the long-running saga at a meeting on Friday.

An EU court ruled that the council had to carry out a new environmental impact assessment, after a case was taken by local landowners a number of years ago.

Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor David Fitzgerald says fresh design work is also underway and a consultant is being appointed
