The price of a stamp is set to rise again next month in post offices across both counties..
An Post says upcoming price hikes are because of a dramatic fall off in letter sending over the past decade.
National stamps will soon rise to €1.85, stamps to Britain and Europe will cost €3.50 cents, while sending a letter to the rest of the world will cost just under €4.
One local postmaster told KCLR News that the price hike is awful.
An Post Spokesperson Anna McHugh, says people will still be able to use stamps they’ve already bought: “All stamps remain once you have stamps with an N or a W, they never go out of date or any euro denomination.”
“They retain their value, you know, forever. So when the 3rd of February comes around, your stamps are then just worth a little bit more.”
