All 48 homes at the newly built Foran’s Way estate in Tullow have been secured for social housing following a dramatic last-minute U-turn.
The project was saved after the Department of Housing approved critical funding, allowing Cooperative Housing Ireland to step in and buy the entire development from the builder.
The move officially reverses a controversial decision that previously saw 22 of the family properties stripped from the public scheme and listed for private sale.
Carlow County Council has said that families will be selected directly from the local housing waiting list, with move-ins expected to be completed by late November.
