Local ambulance crew members who are on strike today will still respond to life-threatening call-outs.
That’s according to the chairperson of NASRA which is the ambulance branch of the Psychiatric Nurses Association.
Their members in Carlow, Kilkenny and around the country are picketing today in a dispute with the HSE, who they say are refusing to recognise the union.
Of the fifty paramedics & emergency medical technicians, about 20 are members of NASRA and locally those with some supporters are picketing at ambulances bases at Kilcreene hospital in Kilkenny and on the Athy Road in Carlow.
Speaking to KCLR News, NASRA’s Sinéad McGrath says it looks like there will be further days of strike action as well.
