Carlow will no longer have a National Ambulance Service base from next Monday.
Staff have to move out of the premises they were using on the Athy Road because it’s been deemed unfit for use.
A source has told KCLR News of sanitation issues like sewage blockage and smells, no hot running water, no heating and a myriad of other issues.
Speaking to KCLR today, Carlow Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor says it’s a disgrace that it’s been neglected for so long and it’s now been condemned by health and safety authorities.
Meanwhile, local TD Pat Deering says staff will now have to operate out of the Kilkenny base which raises huge concerns about response times for Carlow emergencies.
