Locals in Mullinavat are “very angry” that their projects weren’t granted any funding from the council this year.
That’s according to local councillor Éamonn Aylward who says a committee was set up in the village last year to try and get a modern playground for the area.
In just 18 months the group managed to fundraise €33,000 towards the project and they were hoping to get much of the remaining funds needed from the Council’s community grants scheme.
However, they were refused because they don’t have the titles to the land – despite the land having been gifted to the community decades ago.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Aylward says it’s hugely frustrating for them.
