Ann Phelan a possible candidate for Ministerial duty after Joan Burton elected Labour Leader
Ann Phelan could be in line for a ministerial portfolio after Joan Burton was elected leader of the Labour party.
The Social Protection Minister’s out-polled rival Alex White 3-1, while Alan Kelly was a clear winner with more than 50% of the vote in the four-way race for the Deputy Leadership.
Local TD Ann Phelan has been a supporter of both candidates since the start of the campaign.
And while she doesn’t want to comment of the possible make-up of a new labour front bench when she spoke to KCLR News this afternoon – Deputy Phelan would not deny that she could be in running for a promotion.
When asked if she’d be looking for a portfolio, she said: ”That remains to be seen, but we live in hope.”
