The Army Bomb Disposal team were called to Inistioge in Co Kilkenny yesterday afternoon to tend to a suspect device.
The 19th Century Mills Type Grenade was found by a member of the public in the rural Tullogher area.
The team arrived at 3:45pm and the grenade was made safe by a controlled explosion.
It was the second call-out for the team in the South East yesterday, they were also called to a rural location outside Dunhill in Co. Waterford.
There they found commercial dynamite, which was also made safe by a controlled explosion.
