Blind Kilkenny man setting off on 21-day cycle today

A blind Kilkenny man gets in the saddle today for a gruelling 3 week cycle along the Wild Atlantic way.

Tom Kennedy will set off from Kinsale in Cork to the Peace Bridge in Derry heading up the West Coast of Ireland.

He wants to raise money for the Kilkenny Great War Memorial Committee who are hoping to erect a monument to the local soldiers who died during World War 1.

Around 3,000 soldiers enlisted from Kilkenny and 800 were killed.

Tom says he’s been in training for weeks and is hoping the good weather will hold up on his journey.
