Blood stock shortage: clinics being held in Carlow and Kilkenny

Blood stocks are quite low at the moment – according to the Irish Blood Transfusion Service.

As a result, they’re urging locals across Carlow and Kilkenny to give blood this week.

Clinics are being held across the two counties – they’re in Leighlibridge tonight between 4:30 and 8:00pm.

They will also be Callan parocial hall on Wednesday from 5pm-8:30 and St Mary’s National School in Thomastown on Thursday at the same time.

Speaking to KCLR, IBTS area manager in Carlow, Miriam O’Neill says they are finding it difficult to collect the 3,000 units of blood required weekly and she says they really need donations quickly.
