An investigation’s been launched in Waterford following the discovery of the body of a young boy overnight.
The six-year-old was found in a car at Dunmore East shortly after midnight.
A woman aged in her late thirties was arrested at the scene and has been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act,1984 at a Garda Station in the county.
Gardaí there say they’re investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death and the results of a post-mortem will determine the course of their investigation.
Enquiries are ongoing, and additional updates will be provided as available.
The scene is preserved for forensic examination and the local Coroner and Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
