Borris House hosts some big names for the weekend

A Carlow village will host some big names this weekend for its annual Festival of writing and ideas.

Borris House is home to the event which is part of the ongoing Eigse Carlow Arts Festival.

Neil Jordan, Tommy Tiernan and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd are just some of those involved this year with film, arts, comedy and literature all part of the packed 3 day programme.

Irish singer songwriters Lisa Hannigan & Cathy Davey are also on the bill along with Donal Lunny & Clive Barnes.

There will be talks from Philosopher AC Grayling and UCD Professor Diarmaid Ferriter, and a performance by actress Aoife Duffin while broadcaster Olivia O’ Leary talks to an inspiriational young Cork woman Joanne O Riordan about her life without limbs.
