Tom Molloy talked about how Government income figures for November seemed to mirror what was experienced by many retailers – difficult and off budget. In the wake of much commentary about the tax contributions of Facebook, Google et al we discussed the ethics of multi national tax minimisation practices and what “real” capitalists should be doing in response.

Many people “say it with flowers” when it comes to special occasions or indeed brightening up their daily lives. It’s a big business. We talked to Pat Comerford of Flower Power in Kilkenny about his business. Pat shared his experiences at the hands of burglars and their effects on his business. Have you been effected by similar issues? Get in touch with the programme and tell us what you’ve done in response.

Fergus Doyle the Business Trouble Shooter joined us in studio to wrap up 2012. With the year drawing to a close we discussed top tips for preparing for 2013 – here are the top three  ….

1 decide how much you want to increase your business

2 tell somebody

3 include your team

Chartered Accountants Ireland have just published a new book called “Strategic Cost Reduction”.  We talked to co-author Tim McCormick about how you can cut costs “without killing your business”.  Have you got ideas or thoughts on this important subject.  We’d love to hear from you.

Looking ahead to next week. Our programme on December 18th will be the last for 2012 and we’re taking leave of the year on a festive theme with the Bottom Line Business Toy Show. Have you a favourite business gadget, Executive Toy or Stress Buster ? Is there an app, a piece of furniture, office equipment or computer programme that is “the business” in your business.
