There could be change on the way for border areas in Carlow and South Kilkenny.
The Environment Minister has now appointed the groups he wants to review the local Government boundaries.
Yesterday KCLR heard from South Kilkenny councillors who said they would oppose any attempt at a land grab in the area after Minister Paudie Coffey revealed the Waterford/South Kilkenny boundary was up for review.
Now the Environment Minister Alan Kelly has revealed he has appointed groups to review that boundary and others including Carlows border with Laois.
The Minister says the main rationale for boundary alteration is to bring the administrative jurisdictions into line with the current settlement and development position.
He says the reviews are clearly warranted given the significant overspill of population in each of these cases into another county.
The same committee will look at the Waterford/South Kilkenny case and the Carlow/Laois review over the next 6 months, with a report including recommendations due to the Minister in November for Waterford and in February for Carlow.
