Burglaries increase around Carlow and Kilkenny – Local Crime Prevention Officer offers tips on how to secure your home

You’re being warned to make sure all your doors and windows are locked before you leave home.

The Crime Prevention Officer for Carlow Kilkenny says there has been an increase in burglaries in recent days, especially in homes where windows or doors are left unlocked.

Sergeant Peter McConnon says it is important to always ensure windows and doors are secured on leaving the house.

Some of the other tips he gives include using light and timer switches when out, store keys safely away from windows and  letter boxes and make the house look hospitable at all times.
