A community walk and cycle to raise awareness of the proposed removal of native trees as part of the N76 Callan Bypass Pavement Scheme will take place at 5pm this evening.
The walk/cycle will begin at the Abbey Meadow Car Park and will proceed through the Moat Field, onto the bypass and then back around via the town’s Aldi store.
“We hope that as many people as possible participate in the public consultation process for this scheme,” said Nicola Teehan, who spoke to KCLR News about the event. “The more submissions, the better.”
There are a good number in already, but if people attend the walk who have not yet put in a submission, please encourage them to do so before 4pm tomorrow. There are a good number in already, fair play to the people of Callan who are playing an active part in the development of their community.
Étaoin Holohan, who runs Fennelly’s Café on Bridge Street, is chair of the Callan Town Team. She told KCLR News that the local community is looking forward to the delivery of the scheme but hopes these works can be carried out as sensitively as possible.
The closing date for submissions regarding the scheme is tomorrow (Thursday, July 16th) at 4pm and must be made through https://consult.kilkenny.ie
