Kilkenny could be the first county to have security cameras installed at its motorway junctions.
Fine Gaels David Fitzgerald says he has approached the Justice Minister to fund a proposal that would see CCTV cameras installed at each of the exits in the county.
It would be on a trial basis to examine how they might benefit crime prevention and detection.
Councillor Fitzgerald hopes that Kilkenny can lead the way on this for the rest of the country to follow.
