Calls for Irish Water to clarify who will foot the bill for broken pipes on private property

A Carlow Councillor wants Irish Water to clarify who will pay the bill if water pipes or sewage lines break on people’s properties.
Ken Murnane is tabling a motion at next week’s council meeting asking the local authority to find out what happens if these pipes pass through people’s houses, gardens and yards.
He says home-owners shouldn’t have to pay for repairs to pipes that were installed to serve a whole area.
The issue will be raised at the next monthly meeting of Carlow County Council this coming Monday.
