2 thousand 605 new cars were registered in Carlow and Kilkenny in the first half of this year.
Figures have been released looking at the sales of 151 cars with 1,600 bought in Kilkenny and 1,005 purchased in Carlow.
Sales locally are up 19 per cent on this time last year with Volkswagen the top seller with Ford and Toyota coming in after that.
The favoured colour is black followed by silver and grey.
