Figures from the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) show a sharp rise in work related fatalities last year.
Provisional data from the HSA indicate that 58 people died up from 36 the previous year an increase of more than 60%.
The agriculture sector, with 23 deaths, continues to account for the highest number of fatalities representing 40% of all work-related fatalities last year from a sector employing approximately 4% of the workforce.
There was two recorded deaths in Kilkenny while there was none in Carlow.
