Less than 10 GP practices or clinics have signed up to provide medical abortions in Carlow and also in Kilkenny.
They’re among 13 counties nationwide where fewer than 10 GP practices are providing the service.
Figures provided by the HSE to Chair of the Oireachtas Health Committee, Social Democrat TD Pádraig Rice, show there were 495 GP contracts to provide abortion services as of July.
Each contract can cover a number of doctors within a practice or centre.
The Irish Independent says fewer than 10 have signed up in Cavan, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Mayo, Monaghan, Westmeath, Wexford, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Carlow and Offaly.
