Four acts are bidding to represent KCLR in nationwide contest New Local Hero.
Asophonics and Sitting Room from Carlow join with Kilkenny’s The Southern Fold and Charlotte Mackey with all four due on with The Afternoon Crew of Shannon & Shane later today and tomorrow between 1 and 4pm.
From tomorrow evening you’ll be able to cast your vote on our website to help name the KCLR representative – we’ll do that next week then they’ll be in the running for a national showcase.
The competition’s runnning as part of Irish Music Month with Independent Broadcasters of Ireland and HotPress magazine and is supported by Coimisiun na Mean’s Sound & Vision Scheme, funded by the television licence fee.
The prize pot includes €5,000 cash, the same amount’s worth of studio time at Camden Studios in Dublin while the winning song will be released on the Rubyworks label.
