Carlow’s Anita O’Connor was among 88 Irish athletes at the official opening of the 2015 Special Olympic Games last night.
US First Lady, Michelle Obama officially opened the games in Los Angeles around 1am Irish time.

7,000 athletes including the 88 from Ireland will compete over the next month.
The ceremony featured a host of stars like Colin Farrell and Stevie Wonder.
