Carlow Council says it’s interestsed in a free energy upgrade scheme

Carlow County Council says it’s very interested in a free scheme for energy upgrades in council houses.
The free scheme provides remote access for families living in social housing to all their heating controls.
The scheme is being fully funded by Electric Ireland and is already being done in 100 local houses through the the Cluid housing association.
Kilkenny County Council says it’s still looking into the deal as part of their overall strategy.
Carlow Director of Services Seamus O’Connor says they would expect to take advantage of the offer this year as they are already using similar system in some upgrades council houses.
