Carlow Councillor contacts Gardaí over ‘hateful texts’

Councillor Denis Foley says he had no choice but to contact the Gardaí after hateful texts were sent to him.

The Bagenalstown local representative says that a number of texts were sent by people he didn’t know accusing him of closing down Muine Bheag Vocational School.

Councillor Foley told KCLR he had no way of knowing that there were plans afoot to close the school in 2018 – despite being chairman of the board of management.

However, he says that he has now been contacted by one of the texters again who has apologised.
