A local Councillor is reminding households of their entitlement to brown bins, which are available for food waste.
Fianna Fáil Councillor Daniel Pender told KCLR news that he has received many complaints from rural areas, particularly the south of Carlow, stating that households have sought a brown bin and are not being provided with one, despite having a legal right to a brown bin since January 2024.
Cllr Pender continued: ‘Those unhappy with this lack of provision can report it to WERLA (Waste Enforcement Regional Lead Authority) or contact the environment section of Carlow county council. A case is being prepared against those not providing the brown bins to customers’
