Carlow County Council need to find an extra €2 million

Carlow County Council is facing a €2 million budget deficit in next year’s budget.

Local TD Pat Deering says the council is certainly in “some difficulty” and they’re going to have to find a way of coming up with this money.

There are talks of possibly increasing the local property tax to try and make some dent in the deficit.

Speaking to KCLR News, Deputy Deering says a number of things caused this financial problem including an amount of land bought by the council, the cost of Powerstown Landfill and rent issues.
