Carlow cyclist Lara Gillespie secured a gold medal in the elimination race at the UEC European Track Championships in Belgium last night.
The 23-year-old, who impressed in the final three alongside Lisa van Belle of the Netherlands and Helene Hesters, made her family proud.

Her father, Trevor Gillespie, expressed his pride, saying, “It’s a very proud moment as a parent, and we are always so proud of her.”
Lara’s victory marks another significant achievement in her promising cycling career.
