Carlow’s Jennifer Murnane O Connor says she knows she will face a long process if she is to be selected as Fianna Fails candidate for next years by-election.
Phil Hogan is off to Europe later this year leaving an empty seat in the constituency and prospective candidates are already starting to declare their interest in filling it.
Councillor Murnane O Connor secured nearly 4 and a half thousand first preference votes when she ran in the last General Election in 2011.
But she admitted to the Sue Nunn Show this morning that a by-election is a different thing entirely.
