Carlow’s Fire Chief is now on standby for international duty with the United Nations.
Ger Guerin has completed two weeks training in Switzerland for the new role – which he was appointed to recently.
It means he’ll now be on a rota, and can be deployed if a natural disaster occurs.
Chief Guerin told KCLR news that it’s an honour to have been selected.
