Gardai are appealing for witnesses who were in the area around the time the fire started at a disused factory in Carlow on Saturday.
The blaze started around 4:30 in the afternoon at the former Erin foods site on the Cannery Road in a shed which contained hay bales.
Fire crews battled the blaze and remained there yesterday to dampen it down.
There were concerns about the asbestos roof there too but Garda Inspector Martin Walker from Carlow says there’s no major risk.
The area around the disused factory, is still cordoned off and Gardaí are maintaining security there.
They are particularly interested in speaking to a young man who approached the fire services shortly after their arrival on the scene.
He is described as being about 5 foot 9 in height with dark hair and was wearing dark clothes.
