A Carlow-based drama group is celebrating this week having picked up the Best Script prize at the National Drama Festival for Irish language amateur dramatics, which was held at Westport Town Hall Theatre.
New play ‘Míle Murder í Muine Bheag’ from Irish language Aisteoirí an Lóchrainn was written by group member Cathal Ó Catháin.
He explained the significance of the award success to KCLR News noting; “We were in competition with groups from all over Ireland from all the Gaeltachtaí, our script came out the best so it’s good to be acknowledged because in general it’s very difficult to defeat groups from the Gaeltacht because they have the advantage of living with the language all the time”.
