Carlow journalist’s books take top award as Easons favourite adult book of the year

Former KCLR presenter and journalist Eimear Ní Bhraonáin is celebrating a book award.

The Dodger – DJ Carey and the great betrayal has just been announced as Easons favourite adult book of the year 2025.

The story follows the rise and fall of the former Kilkenny hurler who was jailed last month for 5 and half years for defrauding multiple people out of thouands of euro pretending he had cancer.

Ms Ní Bhraonáin told KCLR news shes thrilled.

“I’m absolutely delighted. I’m also very happy because it shows that there’s still a real interest in news stories and investigations, the stories that look further and dig deeper, so it’s a vote of confidence in journalism as well- míle buíochas.”
