The Carlow Kilkenny Fine Gael TD is calling on the government to fast-track life-saving blood tests to tackle “devastating” cancer mortality rates locally.
Catherine Callaghan says figures from the Irish Cancer Society show that, in 2024, one person died almost every day from the disease across the two counties.
She told the Dáil we need to adopt next-generation sequencing (NGS) blood tests as part of our cancer detection processes.
