A minutes silence will be held in Carlow in the next hour as the town marks 180 years since the hanging of Lucinda Sly.
At 2.30 on this day in 1835 she became the very last woman to be publicly hanged at Carlow Jail.
A plaque to remember her will be unveiled at Carlow Shopping Centre.
