Carlow in shock as two men die after road crash on Laois border

Two local families and the community has been left devastated today following a horrific crash this morning just outside of Carlow Town.

Two men aged in their 20’s and 30’s were the driver and passenger on a motorbike which collided with a van near Arles on the main Carlow to Portlaoise road between 5.30 and 6am.

The men are from the Graiguecullen and Carlow areas.

The van driver was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured in the incident.

Gardai in Portlaoise are appealing for witnesses to the crash.

Local councillor Jennifer Murnane says the community is in shock.
