Carlows St Patrick’s Day Parade is being brought forward this year by a day due to Mount Leinster Rangers being in the All Ireland Club Hurling Final.
Organisers are anticipating a mass exodus of supporters to Croke Park on the 17th of March so they’re now holding the event on Sunday the 16th of March.
Those in the parade will be assembling from 2.30pm with the parade moving off at 3.30pm from Burrin Street.

ST. PATRICK’S FESTIVAL PARADE
Due to the participation of Mount Leinster Rangers in the All-Ireland Club Hurling Final on St. Patrick’s Day and to facilitate the anticipated mass exodus of supporters to Croke Park for the match, it has been decided to hold the Carlow Town Parade on Sunday, 16th March. The parade will be organised by Glór Cheatharlach in association with Carlow Town Council and the Carlow Town Team.
Assembly will be from 2.30pm with the parade moving off at 3.30pm. Walking groups will assemble in Penneys Carpark while floats and vehicles will line up on Burrin Street which will be closed to through traffic from 2.30pm. The Killeshin Pipe Band and the Presentation School Band will as usual take part in the parade.
All local organisations, clubs, bands, sports groups, schools, societies and businesses are encouraged to make a special effort to participate this year. Local traders and the business community are invited to have their shop windows and premises decked out in festive colours and displays. Participating groups should be appropriately festive also. All wishing to participate in the parade are requested to register as soon as possible and no later than 5pm on Monday, 10th March. Completed forms should be marked PARADE and returned to the Town Hall, Centaur Street, Carlow.
