Carlow TD calls for regulation of stores offering cash for gold jewellery

A local government representative wants the laws  around outlets that offer cash for gold tightened.

Certain businesses allow people to walk in off the street and trade gold items in exchange for cash.

But Carlow/Kilkenny TD Pat Deering has called for these stores to be regulated.

He’s made the appeal after a recent spate of burglaries across Carlow & Kilkenny over the past few weeks.

Mr Deering says people are oblivious to where the items are coming from and says something needs to be done.
