Fianna Fáil’s Jennifer Murnane O’Connor secures Seanad election

Carlow has a new Senator this morning.

Jennifer Murnane O’Connor has been elected to the Labour Panel of the Seanad after the 15th count in the last hour.

Earlier this year the Fianna Fáil Councillor narrowly missed out on a seat in the Dáil when she was pipped to the post for the 5th seat by Fine Gael’s Pat Deering.

Reacting to news of her election to the Seanad this morning, fellow Fianna Fáil-er, Deputy Bobby Aylward says it’s a great achievement.
