Carlow/Kilkenny Sinn Féin TD backs Mary Lou McDonald for next party president

Mary Lou McDonald looks to be the clear favourite to lead Sinn Féin after Gerry Adams’ departure.
Pearse Doherty and Michelle O’Neill have now said they won’t challenge for the post.
Gerry Adams announced his plans to step down after 34 years at the Sinn Féin Ard Fheis at the weekend.
Carlow-Kilkenny Deputy Kathleen Funchion says she’s interested to see if anyone else puts their name forward.
However, she says if Mary Lou McDonald is to be the new leader she would be quite happy with that.
