Changing the boundary between Carlow and Laois could benefit the local council to the tune of €50,000,000.
The proposed changes to the Carlow/Laois boundary would see ALL of Graiguecullen and some of it’s surrounds come into Carlow’s control – an area with a population of around 5 thousand people.
Laois County Council claim there would be threats to the cultural, social and economic development potential of the Graiguecullen/Crossneen area if the boundary moved.
However, despite it being a 50 million euro question – as has been estimated – the reaction from the public appears to have been less than enthusiastic.
Up to Thursday evening, the day before the deadline – a mere 7 public submissions had been received.
In contrast, over 20 thousand people had their say on the Kilkenny / Waterford Boundary review last month.
Midnight last night was the final chance for those of you in Carlow and Laois to have your say.
The Boundary Review Committee now have until the end of March to make a decision.
