Shoppers will finally get through the doors of the brand new Penneys in Carlow this morning.
The retailer had a temporary base at Carlow Shopping Centre since March 2017 but has now returned to its original home on Kennedy Avenue in the town.
€12 million was spent on the revamp and the new store will operate on 100% renewable energy.
The ribbon will be cut just before 9 o’clock this morning.
Head of Penneys Ireland Damien O’Neill told KCLR they are very excited about it:
“We have completely refurbished the store. We have spent just under 12 million in redesigning, rebuilding this beautiful store. The team are so happy to be back here and we’re delighted to be here too”
Manager of the Carlow store Sandra Quinlan says it’s great to be in the new store:
“We waited a good few years to come back to our own store. It’s absolutely amazing. I’m just so proud to be back in this store and proud of all the team, proud of all the hard work that they’ve done over the last 10 days”
